Hong Kong stocks end morning with gains

Hong Kong stocks rose Friday morning following a record close on Wall Street as investors welcomed comments from US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin saying he would unveil a promised tax cut plan soon.

Hong Kong stocks rose Friday morning following a record close on Wall Street as investors welcomed comments from US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin saying he would unveil a promised tax cut plan soon.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.08 percent, or 18.18 points, to 24,075.16.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index inched up 0.07 percent, or 2.30 points, to 3,174.40 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, also was up 0.07 percent, or 1.34 points, at 1,930.12.
